I need to put things in perspective once in a while - we all do. I may feel rootless and let down by our society, but it could always be worse. I thought about homelessness a lot when I was living in Edinburgh where it’s a big problem, especially as I was facing unemployment/having no fixed address. Now I have a fragile sort of stability, and it keeps me sane. We’d all like to be free spirits but you can’t do it without the cash to burn.
I’ve been emotionally ‘homeless’ for a long while now having cut a lot of ties to the past and people I grew up with…I enjoy the freedom and openness this brings, and I would never belittle the reality of living on the streets when I am essentially still privileged but a loner.
